One weekend at Efteling

One week ago we visited the theme- and adventure park Efteling in the Netherlands. Before I start telling you about our incredible time in Efteling, I will begin with some general information about the park.
Efteling opened in the 1930s as a hiking- and nature park and developed further in a fairytale park in the beginning of the 1950s. Twenty years later Efteling changed from a pure fairytale part into a themepark. Many rides like Python, Pirana and Villa Volta and the Flying Dutchman were built during the 90s.
Around the park there are four different places, where you can stay over night and even make real holidays.
Our Accomodation – Efteling Bosrijk
We were accomodated in Bosrijk. Bosrijk is located in a wonderful conifer forest.

Entrance to Bosrijk

On the picture below you can see the Efteling houses in Bosrijk located at a small see. The castle in the background was illuminated at night 🙂

You can choose between small villages like ours or seperate single houses.

After a long ride we were happy to check in at our temporary new home. But I tried to enter our neighbors house… 🙂 After this little mistake we took our package from our car and explored Nr. 536.

Living room

Bedroom

Bathroom

Kitchen
We were really surprised about the well equipped kitchen. An oven, microwave, stove and dishes made that kitchen completely functional.

Wonderful Breakfast
Besides our great house, Efteling offered a rich breakfast. Cold cuts, salmon, cheese and my different types of marmalade were part of a wonderful breakfast. Breakfast room was only a few steps away from our mansion 🙂

Our Accomodation was really great. We have enjoyed the evenings in the living room and the nights in our comfortable beds. There was no problem to get out because of backache or something else. AND that was important to us. How you can see, we have had a strict plan to get everything to see and more important, we wanted to ride the attractions:) You will wonder how spacious the park is. I still can not believe that we didn’t get everything to see during the three days.
To cut a long story short, here are some impressions from our time in Efteling. Enjoy it 🙂
Attractions
Python

Halve Maen

Symbolica

Baron 1898
The legendary Baron 1898 – Insider tip: There are two different lines. Take the line for the front row. You have to wait some minutes more, but I advise you to be patient. We have tested the second row first and then decided to take a ride in the front row. It is worth it! 🙂

Flying Dutchman
Flying Dutchman was my personal favorite attraction. I don’t want to reveal too much, but the attraction is a good mixture of theme ride, water ride and roller coaster. Enjoy it ! ! ! 🙂

Villa Volta

Look forward with pleasure to this wonderful and mysterious attraction… 🙂
Vogel Rok

The first highlight of this attraction is definitive the entrance. I have never seen such a cool entrance to a roller coaster. And the dark ride makes sure everyone cries for fun.
The Flying Island – Pagode
The Pagode is a flying island that goes up to ca. 50 meters. You have a fantastic view over the Efteling area.

If you have height phobia, stay on the ground and and have a look at your friends pictures after…or you will “enjoy” the trip like our friend Stefan 🙂 Notice: We were definitely not bored as it seems to be in the picture, but we were just posting about the stunning view on instagram 😉

A fully active steam locomotive makes its way around the park. Get on and take a ride through the park to plan your route 🙂

As you have seen there are many attractions in Efteling for every kind of person. Although two of our group were afraid of some attractions, we have almost taken every ride togehter. Only Baron 1898 was an exception. If you take the first row, this ride is an adrenalin rush and a pure experience for every “hardliner”.
Marejik – The Wonderland
The so called Marejik is the famous part of the old Efteling. Fairy tales, wondrously creatures and a fabulous atmosphere make that place an adventure for the young and the old.
Fairy Tale Tree
Hey friend! Who has the longest neck in the picture?
The Witch’s House
The Witch’s House just didn’t look fantastic, it smelled like you were part of the old tale. Poor Hänsel and Gretel… 😉
The Fairy Tale Castle
Food and Fun in Efteling
In the park there are different snack bars, restaurants and even grills. See below some impressions of typical Dutch food from the park 🙂

Fresh Salad
Delicious Soft Ice Cream with different toppings is something you have to try! 😉
If you want to win one of these hilarious donuts, try your luck! 😉

There are many kind of outtakes and this is our best an ! 😀

Conclusion
Efteling is a park for everyone. We had so much fun doing all these great attractions. The different theme rides with its detailled facades and the fairy tale park make Efteling a place for everyone. You can choose from attractions for young people and even children and rides for adults. Although the park has many visitors, it doesn’t feel very crowded due to the huge park size.
We had an amazing weekend and I want to thank Efteling for alle the great moments that we had! ! ! I am sure that we will come back to visit the biggest theme park in the Netherlands 🙂 🙂 🙂
